I have been driving motorcycle for the past 7 years and i already have 3 motorcycle in my list. This 3 motorcycle make me knowledgable about quality of motorcycles. So if you are like me traveling more than 12 kilomoters a day from work to your house and experience traffic everyday then these tips are for you.
- BIG motorcycle like Kawasaki Rouser, Susuki GIXXER , Yamaha Susuki FZ16 and Honda 150 are all nice motorcycle for long drive and clean highway . But if you want to use this in heavy traffic you will have the following troubles
- You keep on pressing your clutch and break so you can expect sudden trouble with it. A YAMAHA owner whom i talk have cut off cluch for 3x in 2 years. It cause him trouble in pushing the motorcycle because he was in the highway.
- Muscle pain in the arms are the next possible problem in big motorcycle because you keep on pressing your break and clutch. The new big bikes again are good only for highway and less traffic road but for city driving plus heavy traffics of the south highway, north highway and SRP. These are not good bikes for daily use.
- Automatic motorcyle like MIO 125 and Honda beat are perfect for daily use and traffics. The problem of this motorcycle is that you can bring them on provinces where you need to climb mountain. In one case, a MIO rider with passenger almost got trouble in Balamban because they are experiencing difficulty climbing. Tho motorcycle is hugging the road to slow, causing other 4 wheel to slow and break. So for city driving just enjoy MIO and HOnda beat but do not bring it on far provinces.
- Underbone motorcycles like Honda wave 100, Honda wave 110, Susuki 115, Yamaha Vega are perfect for both city driving and provincial trips. They can climb the mountain yet not so powerful as the 125cc motors. They are semi automatic which you do not need to press clutch all the time.
- Underbone motors – specials. I consider motorcycle like Honda Wave 125, Honda xrm 125, Susuki J115i, Shogun 125, Fury 125 or any 125 underbone. These are good for daily use either for city and provincial driving. Then the 125 power guarantee for mountain type of the road even you have 2 passengers. Since they have better fuel consumption or on the average higher than 50km per liter you will not have issue on long drive. Honda wave 125 got 3.7 liters so you can travel 150km before you run out of gas. Honda XRM have 5 liters while Susuki 115I can travel 60km+ per liter. While most are positive for these motorcycle, here are some negative feedback
- Honda XRM, Susuki 115I and Wave 125 looks like ordinary motorcycle so somebody might stop you and ask for the rides. They will think that you are HABAL HABAL driver since most underbone are used for this business.
- They are difficult to redesign because you might lose warranty
- Susuki 115i and 125 wave have smaller tank so if you travel more than 100km away, make sure you are fully loaded.
- Honda XRM 125 has better tank size at 5ltrs, less maintenance, easy to access spare parts but everybody is using xrm.
