A short guide to becoming a certified nursing aide or CNA in Alabama
The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) regulates all CNA training programs throughout the state. When you’ve completed the requirements, ADPH will add to the registry list that will qualify you to work in long-term care facilities located in Alabama. Certified nursing assistant schools in the state accept students even without a high school diploma or GED, unless, of course, specified by a CNA Alabama training facility. Must complete the state-approve CNA training program in Alabama- Pass the Alabama CNA Certification Exam (both written and skills test)
- Unblemished criminal record
CNA courses are offered at community colleges, nursing homes, and technical schools. A whole course will take a minimum 75 hours of classroom and clinical training. The estimated total cost ranges from $400 to $1000. You’ll be given 24 months after completing the program to take and pass the CNA exam.
