Title: AN ACT to allow divorce only once and prohibiting remarrying in succession
AN ACT to allow divorce only once and prohibiting remarrying in succession
WHEREAS, if divorce is allowed, both parties may be able to experience fulfillment through remarrying and divorce in repetition and
WHEREAS, it may avoid future similar conflicts, secondary misgivings and misfortunes, therefore
BE IT ENACTED BY THE 10th GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 16th CONGRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES:
Section 1: The party that requested the divorce must have the agreement from the other party.
Section 2: If one party has had a divorce while the other has not, they are not allowed to marry.
Section 3: Upon conviction in a competent court of law, the judge shall sentence the couple to one of the following punishments as the Court shall deem appropriate:
(A) For the first offense, the couple will be charged with P 500, 000 and 5 years imprisonment.
(B) For the second offense, the couple shall be charged P 3, 000, 000 and 10 years imprisonment.
(C) For the third and last offense, the couple shall suffer life-imprisonment.
Section 4: This act shall take effect on December 1, 2014.

An Act to Allow Divorce and prohibiting remarrying
Offense: I submit my opposition to the bill. If the divorced party will not be able to remarry, it is the same result when they do not have the right for divorce. The bill will be useless then.
Defense: Objection! The bill shall not be useless because it gives caution to unmarried citizens that the marriage is final and gives them an idea that it is not a toy to be played with.
Offense: That reason cannot apply to married couples and it is unfair for them when only the unmarried are given caution. We should treat all citizens fairly.
Defense: The married citizens have the right for annulment and therefore it is not very different when divorce is allowed. When they have an annulment, they can still remarry which can fill the difference between annulment and divorce.
Offense: That cannot be. If they are not allowed to remarry, the divorced party may have psychological problem for they are now restricted from the reason they divorced the other party. It is only right that we give them a chance to remarry once as well.
Defense: The Catholic Church is already against divorce. If we allow it, we should have at least one thing in line with them.
Anti:
Divorce should have no limitations in number because if one person cannot make time to work on creating the life they want, they’re eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life they don’t want!
Pro: Being divorced is like being hit by a Mack truck. If you live through it, you start looking very carefully to the right and to the left where you will go thereby encouraging the people to make right and final decisions. This is why the bill of giving a person to divorce is only given once as for those who really have made wrong decisions already and so to avoid treating divorce as casual, one is prohibited from marrying again.
