Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) established the Taiwan International English Teacher Program (TFETP) to attract foreign English instructors and teaching employees to Taiwan.
In a statement, the Department of Labor and Employment stated that there are 450 open teaching posts for foreigners in elementary and intermediate public schools for the current school year 2022.
According to the Taiwan National Immigration Agency’s records, there are 193 Filipino instructors in Taiwan as of 2021.
Teachers under this TFETP will be paid NT$ 62,720 a month, or the equivalent of 115, 122 dollars, if they are accepted.
Requirements
Foreign English Teacher
The official or common language of the nation (as the nationality shown on the passport) where the applicant is from must be English. Identification of the official or common language of a nation is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan).
The List of Nations with English as the Official or Common Language
Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college. The list of the accredited universities and colleges is based on the Database for the Reference List of Foreign Universities from the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan) website (list).
Hold a state-issued teaching license or certificate.
The applicant should provide a criminal record certificate/police check issued after January 1, 2022 from relevant authorities in his or her home country or the country he or she currently resides in. The certificate must include the name of the applicant, the date of issuance, and state that the applicant has no criminal record.
If the applicant has dual nationality (ROC Taiwan citizen and other foreign nationality), please use the foreign nationality to apply.

The official or common language of the nation (as the nationality shown on the passport) where the applicant is from must be English. Identification of the official or common language of a nation is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan).
The List of Nations with English as the Official or Common Language
Hold a master’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college, or hold a bachelor’s degree in related department fields with at least two years of relevant work experience, or hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college within the Top 500 World University Rankings.
The Top 500 World Universities are announced on the Ministry of Education website (link); the accredited universities and colleges are listed in the Database for the Reference List of Foreign Universities from the Ministry of Education (list).

- The scanned/photographed copy must be CLEAR and LEGIBLE with good image resolution;
- The scanned/photographed copy must be from the original and in color;

- Documents must be placed on a flat and plain background when photographed;
- Information must not be obstructed (for example, by your fingers, a shadow, or reflections);

Degree Certificate

State-Issued Teaching License/Certificate
Applicants should obtain a valid state-issued teaching license or certificate.
Police Check/Police Clearance Certificate
The applicant should provide a criminal record certificate/police check issued after January 1, 2022 from competent authorities in his or her home country or the country he or she currently resides in.
Statement of Purpose
A statement of purpose within 700-1500 words. You may include the following aspects in the statement of purpose: your motivation for applying, your background, why you are a good fit for our positions, your career plan, the objectives you wish to accomplish during your time in Taiwan, and your perspective and philosophy of teaching.
Teaching Demonstration Video
The video shall be 4-5 minutes in length (the part over 5 minutes may not be evaluated) and include you teaching a specific topic, concept, or a particular skill. We expect to observe your teaching style, teaching logic, teaching skills, and teaching strategies through the video.
2 Recommendation Letters
The recommendation letters can be from your teachers, professors, previous or current managers and colleagues, who have known you for a period of time and know about your performance at work.
