Last weekend we visited Bantayan island and stayed at Mayet resort. We selected Mayet resort of one 2 main reasons. First it is peaceful and no major noise coming from other vacationer. Secondly it is beach front so we will enjoy the room beside the water. The cost of the room is P1,800 with 2 bed and good for family.

The room has air conditioned and none functioning TV. It has its owned comport room and balcony where you can take dinner with the family. Because we are newbie in beach travel we realize the problem as the day become night.

These are the best travel guide if you plan to visit Bantayan island resorts.

1. Prepare one big bag – Since you are traveling from Cebu City to Bantayan Islands you can expect a travel time of more than 4 hours. Furthermore, you will used more than 4 transportation like taxi, bus, boat and tricycle. Long travel and transferring from another transformation might resulted to  missing  belonging so its better to have one huge bag for your family. For sure you will  not forget this big traveling bag.  In short do not bring to many small bags. Just one huge family traveling bag and your shoulder bag or handbag for money. In our case, i bring Champ travel gear with wheel for convenient trip.

2.  Look for the restaurant. Vacationer have different choice of room and beach view. Some might look for swimming pool while other will look for karaoke facility. Either way everyone should agree that food should be ready within the premises of the beach resort. That is the disadvantage of the Mayet resort. They do not prepare food so we need to travel outside. Renting motorcycle in Bantayan cost us P300 for Suzuki scooter and P150 for bike. Aside from the hassle at night, i agree to my dear friend Mar that food is top priority.

3. Sea weeds in the beach shore. During  February and March the wind goes from south so the seaweeds are present in the south portion of the island. Yes you can swim in the deep portion without sea weeds but the children can not. Besides some seaweeds can cost skin irritation and trigger allergies so better look for resort without sea weeds in the shore.

4.  Gadgets are all condition – Your communication equipment like Sony Experia Mobile phone or Samsung Galaxy are good gadgets to entertain you while seating from one cottage. The breeze of the ocean and the wind of the beach plus the sounds of water are good relaxing factors. Now the games or movie saves in your Apple iphone or Myphone tablet complement your vacation experience. You can have Lenovo laptop that you watch the latest American idol season review. Remember most of the resort in Bantayan Island are wifi ready.

5. Motorcycle, Bike and Baroto or paddle boat for rent in your resort. Nice if they have kayaking experience. I am not sure how much per hour on paddle boat but the Motorcycle is worth P300 per 24 hours then bike for rent in Bantayan is between P100 tp P150. Note every price are double during town fiesta. I love fishing and boating so this is what i wanted to see at their resorts. I am not sure if Beach Placid, Abanico Resort, Anika Resort, Sandy Flower, Sugar Beach, Rommel Beach,  Kota beach and bodyong beach. I am not sure if these resorts have bike and motorcycle for rent equipment but they should have since Bantayan is a nice place for strolling.

There are no big trucks and buses that could threaten the bikers nether no passenger jeepney which usually stop at the center of the street. I actually the faster motorcycle driver there since i run the suzuki scooter at 100 km per hour from Sta Fe to Bantayan town.

6. First Aid kit –   Medicine like neozep for sudden fever, Tempra if you have kids,  alaxan forte if you plan to jog from beach to beaches, betadine for kids who are so playful, bonamine for dizziness and more. It is always better to bring medicine to make sure no minor incident will hold your vacation.

7. Camera – If you have digital camera like Samsung, Sony and Olympus make sure that the moment you ride the transportation its battery is fully loaded. I am sure your finger will start pressing the button when you ride the roro such as Island shipping.  Howver, i strongly recommends to use DSLR camera either Canon or Nikon because you will enjoy much the view in a big size of images like the pictures below.
