Here are what you should expect on El Nido
1. Many are opportunist. The service always have extra fee. In the tricycle publish price is 50 pesos they will ask for php60. If the publish price for Kayak is 300 they will ask for 400.
The hotel owner said, room are cost P400 during non peak months and it goes up to P800 if summer season. Best advise you came here not summer and with family of 4.
2. Streets are too small so there are few vehicles around the town. Only motorcycle and tricycle roam around the street. Of course you can walk around the town since it is just less than 20minutes wide. Cofeeshop is available on the left with internet.
3. You can rent out motorcycle for 500 pesos daily. You are incharge of gasoline. Most of the motorcycle are automatic. You need to leave your passport if you foreginer and if you are local your drivers licensed. All damage need to be paid by yours so there is a refundable deposit.
4. Due to huge number of tourist, there many construction left and right. Here you can see coffeshop, souvenir shop, bakery at the back.
4. The tapsilog store is 24hours open but they are expensive. 1 hotsilog is worth 120 per serving. Yes food are so expensive in El Nido despite of agricultural and fishing town. They want to get rich past.
5. I have not seen Mercury or Rose Pharmacy but generic pharmacy is here. However we know they are not complete so avoid visiting the town without your medicine purchased in Puerto Princessa City
6. 24 Hours Silog republic is expensive but the serving is not impressive. In short you dont get what you pay for. The value of money in the store is not equate but you dont have choice. There are few store open in the morning
7. Food court style in your dinner. Roasted chicken worth 260 good for 4. We ate our dinner here. There are food store inside. There is Korean store, pizza is available too. There is open room and an aircon room. You eat here with foreigner since they also serve unknown food.
8. M Lhuller in El Nido is available if you run out of money you. Then on the top of this store is the room where we stay. It cost us P1500 per night for an aircon room with 3 beds. Its expensive and ot the best but it is what El Nido can offer. Low quality but expensive room.
9. The store in the right is small souvenir shop which is not expensive. The road leading to local elementary school
10. The huge mountain rock indicates you are in El Nido town. Parallel to this road is the beach where the boat are waiting for the island hopping customers.
11. In front of the church is the Womens Cooperative restaurant. I love the taste of the food. I salute the cook on this restaurant. It is the taste of tagalog food. Hindi tinipid na luto. The serving of food is about P60 pesos.
12. Construction everywhere. You can expect a lot of building offering rooms in the future.
13. Use Coron El Nido Room in searching at booking, agoda and AirBnb. There are more affordable room in El Nido. If you search in Airbnb or booking use the baranggay location intead of El Nido room. Corong El Nido is the location outside the town. It is walking distance and they offer more cheaper price compared to the rooms inside the town. Coron is the baranggay before you entre the town.
