Last night, Interior designer Rose Giroso and JoJami Tyler hosted the second annual Wine/Design Film/Fashion opening night party for the Newark Film Festival in Newark, Delaware.
This year we were showing the new documentary, Dressed a film about the aspiring young fashion designer, Nary Manivong who was homeless as a child and overcame the impossible to show his designs at NYC fashion week!
The film just happens to have been written and produced by local film makers, the super charming duo, David Swajeski and Maryanne Grisz who showed up with Nary to our pre-party!
It was amazing when the three of them walked into the room, you could feel the NYC style ooze out of them!
What does NYC style look like?
- Nary had on the dark wash jeans button, down skirt and skinny tie and perfectly fitted black jacket.
- The Director, David was all navy and black and the key piece… a black jacket.
- Maryanne, wore an artistic, bright green printed dress, black leggings with, of course the key piece… a short black, fitted jacket. (too bad you could not see her rocking shoes in the photo…they were black, strappy and wonderfully, wild!
Rose bought their dresses from the fun dress shop, NV Boutique and I had ran out and bought metallic, platform pumps, just hours before the event at one of my favorite shoe stores in Kennett Square,PA, Ashley Austin.
Part II of the party was to all walk over to the theater and see the film. This documentary has such a heartfelt and inspirational story of succeeding when all the chips are against you, with sheer will and persistence and passion. It is a wonderful film with lots of backstage footage of what it takes to get to fashion week. I highly recommend you see this movie if it comes your way!
